Costs & planning

Build a complete vehicle-import budget

Separate the vehicle price from freight and arrival costs.

Cost examples with actual amounts

Illustrative budgets based on our previously discussed business quotes. USD amounts are planning references, not current carrier offers or customs assessments.

Up to 4 standard cars or 3 large SUVs per container, subject to confirmed dimensions and loading. This scheme does not apply to trucks or vehicle transporters; request a separate freight quotation.

Cost per vehicleOne-car shipment4 standard cars / container3 large SUVs / container
Vehicle$2,500.00$2,500.00$2,500.00
Extra FOB package$300.00$300.00$300.00
Sea freight$2,300.00$1,575.00$2,100.00
Destination clearance budget$2,300.00$2,300.00$2,300.00
Listed-cost subtotal$7,400.00$6,675.00$7,200.00

Updated 24 October 2026: Jiang’s Auto Export container freight reference is $6,300. Allocation: $1,575 per standard car (4 cars) or $2,100 per large SUV (3 SUVs). The $2,500 vehicle price is the same illustrative input in each column, not a large-SUV offer. The $300 extra FOB package and provisional $2,300 Nigeria clearance budget are unchanged examples. Confirm current quotes and vehicle eligibility.

Four standard cars: 4 × $2,300 single-car freight = $9,200 versus $6,300 per container, a difference of $2,900 total / $725 per car. Three large SUVs allocate $2,100 freight each. The standard-car single freight quote does not automatically apply to large SUVs. Container shipping is not always cheaper.

Not included: unquoted insurance, destination costs outside the agent’s clearance quote, registration, inland delivery and bank charges. These remain to be priced; they are not free. Do not call the subtotal a guaranteed landed price.

Calculation

Per car = vehicle + extra China-side services + (shipment freight + shipment insurance) ÷ number of cars + destination estimate + other costs. Add the selected contingency to that subtotal.

Avoid counting FOB services twice

Add $300 only if the starting vehicle quote excludes that package. If the written price is already FOB and includes it, set extra China-side services to $0. Ask for the included services in writing.

How duty and tax enter the calculation

Ask your local agent for the customs-assessed value, each duty or levy, the VAT base and a separate breakdown of port and agency fees. Different charges may use different bases. The $2,300 placeholder is not a statutory assessment or a guarantee. Do not add port charges again if they are already included in the agent’s quote.

Deposit and balance example

For an illustrative $2,800 FOB order, a 30% deposit is $840; the remaining 70% is $1,960. If the invoice instead specifies 40%, the deposit is $1,120 and the balance $1,680. These are alternative examples. Your accepted invoice sets the payment terms; sea freight and destination costs are separate.

Currency conversion with our website setting

RMB 30,000 ÷ 6.6897 = US$4,484.51, displayed as approximately $4,485. The rate is a fixed website setting, not a live foreign-exchange quote.

Before accepting a quotation

Confirm vehicle eligibility first, then the exact vehicle and FOB inclusions, a dated freight quote and an itemized clearing estimate. Add insurance and local delivery if applicable. Keep the vehicle price, freight and local charges separate so each payment has a clear recipient.

Break the budget into four parts

Plan separately for the vehicle, the agreed China-side export services, sea freight and destination expenses. Ask for a written breakdown so you know which charges are already included and which are paid to another service provider.

Read the quoted delivery basis

Our catalog displays indicative FOB prices in US dollars. Confirm the final port, included services and current vehicle availability in your quotation. The website uses a fixed RMB conversion setting; the accepted invoice specifies the actual agreed currency and amount.

Budget for arrival

Ask your clearing agent for a destination estimate covering applicable duties, taxes, port handling, clearance and inland delivery. Request the assumptions behind that estimate. Costs can change with the vehicle and shipment, so leave a contingency in your budget.

Compare a single car with a combined load

A shared or full container can spread some freight costs across several vehicles. Compare the total cost per car, loading compatibility and waiting time. Request a fresh freight quotation rather than relying on a previous shipment’s price.

Shipment documents, costs and eligibility depend on the vehicle and destination. Confirm the current requirements with your clearing agent before placing an order.
